Georgia Introduces New Personal Data Protection Law to Enhance Consumer Privacy

As of March 2024, Georgia has implemented the new "Personal Data Protection Law." Starting March 1, consumers will no longer receive advertising messages without their prior consent. Additionally, as stipulated by the law, beginning on June 1, both public and private entities are required to appoint a Personal Data Protection Officer. This law also emphasizes the importance of maintaining transparency in data processing activities.

Nika Asvanua, the founder of the Association of Personal Data Protection Officers of Georgia and LLC DPO, discussed these developments on Euronews Georgia.
